Repeat customers needed a faster way to reorder.

01 / Build
What I built
iOS and Android app with native cart and guest checkout.
- React Native
- WooCommerce
02 / Decisions
Key decisions
- React Native for one codebase across iOS and Android, so a small team maintains one app, not two.
- WooCommerce stays the source of truth for products, prices and orders. The app reads and writes through its API, so nothing is managed in two places.
- A native cart and guest checkout instead of a wrapped web page, because a repeat customer reorders fastest when checkout doesn't make them log in or wait for a website to load.
03 / Notes
Architecture and hindsight
Architecture
The app talks to WooCommerce through its REST API for the catalogue, customers and orders. The cart lives on the device, so adding and changing items is instant. Guest checkout creates a normal WooCommerce order, which means fulfilment, emails and reporting work exactly as they do for orders from the website.
What I'd do differently
Ship the reorder path to a small group of customers before the full catalogue is in the app. Reordering is the reason the app exists, so it should be the first thing real customers use and the first thing measured.
04 / Outcome
Outcome
In build; one codebase for iOS and Android, running on the store's existing WooCommerce data.
